about

TOR and the When We Dip team proudly continue the label's signature release series with the third edition of the Tales of Romance VA. As we continue to set the foundations of TOR's sound and creative direction, this series showcases the pillars of the imprint in the years to come, and provides an explorative platform for our family of producers.

Rashid Ajami makes his TOR debut with our A-side on the project- Music is my Medicine. Through work with the likes of Maya Jane Coles and Atjazz, the Londoner has built a sterling reputation with releases on Get Physical, Einmusika, Anjunadeep, and Tale & Tone. A meandering piano melody opens the show, as the synth lead and bassline build to welcome a vocal offering fit for the times.

Lucefora, hailing from Argentina, partners with the UK's Steve Kelley on Silk. With All Day I Dream and Souksonic under their respective belts, Lucefora and Mr. Kelley continue to impress with their first project on TOR. Melodies collide with a sturdy groove, as percussion and strings bring immense musicality to a rhythmic number. An elongated bridge christens magical dancefloor moments, a summer tune at its core.

Wassu and djimboh need no introduction to the TOR faithful, as each have appeared on the series before with individual productions. The compadres recently launched their joint Kavi EP on Lee Burridge's TRYBESof to widespread acclaim, and we're thrilled to have them connect again on From Afar. Both of their signature sounds shine through here, with a bountiful bassline meeting blissful melodics; A dreamy affair for sun's upcoming glare.

Greg Ochman is a name at the tip of everyone's tongue at the moment. The Polish producer has proven his immense quality through recent gems on Sebastian Leger's Lost Miracle, as well as an eclectic project with Radiant. For his TOR debut, he offers Inner Awake. Harnessing the staples of his sound - electronica dripping in melodic tones - he seamlessly blends synthetic and organic influences. Swirling electronics ebb and flow alongside percussive rhythms throughout a blissful arrangement.

We're thrilled to connect with the thriving Japanese electronic community for the first time through Satoshi Fumi. The Bedrock and Sudbeat regular pulls from all corners of the sound spectrum in his output, heavily influenced by Detroit and Chicago. Letters in the Sand hammers revolving analog synths on top of a classic drumline; one for the heads!

Nick Scofield made his TOR debut on our second edition of the series, and he continues to move the dial with the follow up offering - Liver. Hearty bass stabs intertwine with chopped drum loops, as punchy synthetics convalesce in a dancefloor weapon. Big stuff on the way from Mr. Scofield - take note!

zenna is a newcomer on the scene, hailing from Dublin. He cuts deep into the groove on About You, with a broken beat setting the foundation. Delayed analog synths and filtered pads connect for an easy-riding melody; an impressive debut from the up-and-comer.

Leandro Caceres is sure to continue his ascent of the deep and melodic space, with an always impressive blend of organic grooves already gracing the likes of Nick Warren's imprint The Soundgarden. The Way places these qualities on full display, caressing listeners into a dreamy dance with stunning percussion and eastern influence.
