Label XYZ’s signature collection returns in the form of Blanche - an annual series focused on collaborating with many of the artists who will carry the torch in 2021, and shining a refreshed light on their art in the early days of the new year. From groovy to melodic, percussive to ethereal, Blanche represents the beginning of our explorations into 2021’s musical landscape. With newcomers and label favorites alike, the six track release continues to harvest XYZ’s creative direction as an artist-first label, purveying talented and innovative producers with an insightful story to tell.

Montreal’s own Mitch Oliver was introduced to the XYZ faithful just a few months ago with one of our favorite releases to date - the emblematic Same Light. Recent appearances on Seven Villas and Kindisch continue a fruitful period for the Canadian, and we’re thrilled to have him lead Blanche with Alleghanys. Gentle pads and soaring synths join forces with a sturdy and ominous bassline, easing us into the groove from the get-go.

Westseven will forever hold a unique place at the imprint, as he played a key role in the label’s very first release in collaboration with Budakid. The Anjunadeep regular and Soul De Amina head is no stranger to the scene, crafting a stellar reputation throughout the years via productions teeming with quality. We’re thrilled to have him back at XYZ with a melodic masterpiece - Compass. He’s teamed up with Ross Farren, harnessing blissful vocals with bountiful drums for an uplifting aura; a tune we all need at the moment.

Two of New York’s finest come together for the collaboration we’ve been wanting to see for some time now! Wassu and David Orin have built a tremendous community in the deep and melodic space, centered around releases with All Day I Dream, Saisons, and Anjunadeep. They’ve come together on Magenta, which quickly gets our feet moving into an irresistible two step. A luscious bassline forms the backbone, allowing warm melodies and percussion to carry the groove from start to finish; a gem fit for any dancefloor.

We’re excited to unveil a new alias from one of the label’s recent starlets, yet we’ll let the music provide the answers you may be looking for. Michi da Buni debuts with an Afro-centric bomb, providing the peak of the release with undeniable energy. Sturdy drums and rattling percs connect with vocal stabs, while the hook steals the show. Impossible not to imagine this being played out under the sun, and we can’t wait to see it happen sometime soon.

Emotional Tourist has made a distinct name for himself for all the right reason - kindness, warmth, and friendliness exude from the Romanian. A community figure amongst the deep and melodic faithful, he’s impressed us time and time again through releases on Kindisch and Shanti Moscow, while also showcasing his knack for stunning reworks. He collaborates with Silence Path on the latest offering, Piece of Paradise, a soothing journey into the easy flowing style of an XYZ favorite. Expect more from this master very soon!

To close out our first release of the new year, we welcome Tyler Mesa for his XYZ debut. Recently launching his project in full with an EP on our beloved TOR, he’s crafting a unique sound centered around progressive, techno, and melodic influences. Aspects of You summarizes the Mesa sound well, groovy yet pensive, allowing simple chords and melodic hooks to carry us away.
